The castle’s turrets bear testimony to battles fought and the turbulent times of the Middle Ages, when the lineage of the O’ Donnell’s lay the foundations to the Treaty of Mellifont. It marks its own moments in Ireland’s history, when the O’Donnell’s were forced to flee to Spain to retain their independence from English power in the 15th century.

There is an exercise gym, and hot and cold therapy suite, with jet showers and steam baths to keep you refreshed after a dip in the 17m indoor heated pool.
